ATO Emails – Check first before opening

There are some very real looking ATO emails circulating, the below email was received by Kerri recently.

TIP – Always check the source email address, don’t click on links or provide your bank details if you aren’t sure.You can review your ATO account status via your MyGov or contact us and we can review your ATO account for you. Whilst the ATO is increasing emails/ text communication to taxpayers they don’t usually ask you to click a link to update details.

If in doubt, don’t. These kinds of emails (and texts) are a constant annoyance, so instead of deleting them, start blocking or reporting them.  It only takes a minute to double check, but could end up taking a lot longer if you sucumb to these scams.
